Our Maggie: Part 2 — All About Noses

Continued from Part 1.

The problem with this line of my genealogy is that I have to take the documents as telling the truth, which can be hard when you are dealing with common names and have no word-of-mouth confirmation. That’s where I was with connecting my great-grandmother Maggie to her parents Henry and Sophronia. And then I saw this picture. I don’t have a subscription to Ancestry, so I used my local library’s access to obtain it. Unfortunately, I was unable to correspond with the person who posted it. Our Maggie: Part 1

Now that we’ve cleared up who is who — here’s what I’ve found on my great-grandmother, which we previously didn’t know much..if anything about. This one’s a little complicated and relies on assumptions and guesses. If I made any errors, let me know. But these are the connections that I put together from various documents. I haven’t searched newspaper archives yet.

My great-grandmother was born in 1892 to John Henry/Henry/McHenry and Sophronia (Fronie, Frona, even Frances in a few records) in Grainger county. As far as I can tell, there was no birth certificate. I found another relative from that area born about the same time, and they had a delayed birth certificate. Her brothers and sisters are: John Henry Jr., Nellie, Lucy and Louis (Lewis). Maggie is in their household in the 1910 census — I was unable to find them in the 1900 census.
